Liposuction
What is liposuction?
Liposuction is a cosmetic surgery that removes fat deposits located in areas specifically resistant to diet and exercise, using a mechanical suction device. |
|
Who is a candidate?
The ideal candidates are generally people who have localized areas of protruding fat (thighs, stomach, back, flanks, knees etc...). Patients who are slightly overweight can benefit from liposuction. It is best to be at or near your ideal weight. Good skin elasticity is important as it permits the skin to shrink more easily to the reduced contour. There is no absolute age limits for liposuction. Liposuction can be performed alone, or it can be done with other plastic surgery procedures such as a breast reduction or a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty). |

Procedure
During surgery Dr. Teanoosh Zadeh infiltrates solutions that will help reduce bruising and post operative discomfort. Dr. Zadeh makes tiny incisions that vary from two to four millimeters. With a back and forth motion, Dr. Zadeh sucks fat cells using cannula connected to a vacuum. The incisions are then closed with sutures and covered with a bandage. The incisions are most commonly located in the natural folds of the skin, making their visibility very low. |

Anesthesia
Liposuction surgery can be performed under general or local anesthesia depending on the area being treated. Patient safety is our priority.

Post Operative & Healing
For two to three days after the operation, one can feel pain in the treated areas, which regress rapidly within no time. Pain medication is prescribed by Dr. Zadeh to alleviate any pain or discomfort. Bruising and swelling make it difficult to assess the results of liposuction immediately. Wearing a compression garment is prescribed for a period of three weeks. It is important to practice low demanding physical activities and follow a proper diet during the post operative period. Dr. Zadeh could recommend you have IPL treatments to make scars even less noticeable. |
