Brachioplasty

What is Brachioplasty?

Brachioplasty, also known as an arm lift is a surgical procedure that removes excess skin of the upper arms. It remodels, strengthens and redefines the lineament of the upper arms.

Who is a candidate?

Brachioplasty surgery is recommended for anyone in good physical and mental health who are bothered or embarrassed to expose their upper arms.

Procedure

Dr. Zadeh often recommends liposuction before a brachioplasty to remove fat deposits in the upper arms. During the excision of the excess skin, he pays special attention not to disturb the deeper layers of tfat in order to protect the nerves, glands and veins of the arm. The incision is made the the armpit and extends towards the elbow.

Anesthesia

Dr. Zadeh performs this operation under general anaethesia for patient safety.

Risks

  • Bleeding

  • Poor scarring

  • Infection

Post Operative & Healing

Bruising and swelling can be observed during the first two weeks following the operation. Any pain and discomfort can be controlled by taking painkillers prescribed by Dr. Zadeh. A compression garment must be worn for a period of three weeks. Return to work normally can be done after one week, while avoiding heavy lifting until complete healing of the incisions. Dr. Zadeh recommends IPL treatments to help diminish the scars.
